Why US numbers only, and one number per business

Every ClearLine365 business gets exactly one number today, and it's always a US number. Here's why, and what it means for you.

Last checked against the product on

When you claim your ClearLine365 number, you're picking from available US numbers, and you're picking one. That's not a plan limit you can pay past today — it's how the number is provisioned and how Cara answers as your business.

How it works

  • Number search only looks for available numbers inside the United States.
  • Every plan includes one ClearLine365 number.
  • The database enforces it too: an organization can have only one primary number at a time.

Why one number

Cara is a single shared assistant, and she works out which business she's answering for from the number a call was dialed on. One number keeps that mapping simple and unambiguous. If your business already answers calls on other lines, you don't need a second ClearLine365 number for them — forward those lines into your one ClearLine365 number instead. See Forward your calls to Cara for how.

Why US only

Number search and ordering both go through US voice numbers only, so today ClearLine365 can't provision a number outside the United States.

Limits

  • One ClearLine365 number per business, with no self-serve way to add a second.
  • Only US numbers are searchable and orderable today.

Common questions

Does one number mean my customers have to start calling something new?

No. You keep whatever numbers you already answer on and forward them into your ClearLine365 number — see Forward your calls to Cara. Customers keep dialing what they've always dialed; Cara picks up on the other end.
