Your first test call, and what a good lead looks like

Call your own ClearLine365 number, play a customer, and watch Cara turn the call into a lead in the app.

Before a real customer calls, place one yourself. Open the setup step in the ClearLine365 app, call your own number, play a customer with a made-up problem, and watch the call turn into a lead right in front of you.

How it works

  • The app opens a short window before you dial and watches for a call to your ClearLine365 number during it, so it knows the call you're about to place is yours.
  • If your caller ID doesn't match confidently, the app asks you to confirm before treating the call as your test — it never mislabels an ambiguous call as yours by guessing.
  • Cara's notes on the call are a summary that lands after the call ends, not live — usually a minute or two after you hang up, sometimes longer if the carrier is slow to hand off the call.
  • Your first test call is on ClearLine365 — it won't count against your plan minutes. A later test call bills like a normal call, about a minute of your plan.

Place your test call

  1. Open the test call step in the ClearLine365 app. Your ClearLine365 number is shown at the top — that's what you're calling.
  2. Leave Match by my caller ID on if you want the app to recognize your test call by the number you're calling from (it's on by default). Turn it off and you'll be asked to confirm the call yourself instead.
  3. Read the suggested line under What to say out loud once Cara answers. Give it about 20 seconds so she has something to capture, then hang up.
  4. Select Call now to dial your ClearLine365 number, or dial it yourself.

What to expect

While your window is open, the app shows Listening for your call with a countdown for how long it keeps watching — if it runs out, start another test; nothing is lost. After you hang up it shows Still processing your call while Cara's notes land.

If your number was provisioned only minutes ago, the app may show Your line is coming live first — a number that new can take a couple of minutes before the carrier starts sending it calls. The screen updates itself the moment it's ready.

If the app can't confidently match your caller ID, you'll see Was this your test call? with the candidate lead shown so you can decide while looking at it. Select Yes — that was my test to confirm it, or No — that's a real customer to leave it exactly as it is, an ordinary lead in your inbox.

What a good lead looks like

Once your test call is matched, the app opens it directly, labeled Test so it never counts as real business. A captured lead shows:

  • The caller's name
  • A one-line summary of what they said
  • Their phone number
  • An address, if they gave one
  • An estimated job value, if a price came up
  • When the call came in

Open the full lead from there for the recording and transcript.

Limits

  • Nothing about the call appears until after you hang up — Cara's notes are a post-call summary, not a live transcript.
  • A confidently-matched test call is labeled automatically; an ambiguous one is proposed to you for confirmation rather than assumed.

Common questions

What if my number isn't ready to ring yet?

The app tells you — Your line is coming live or We're still setting up your number — and updates itself the moment your number can take calls. There's nothing to retry manually.

What should I say on the call?

The app suggests a line based on the first service you listed for your business, ending in "Can someone come Thursday?" so Cara has a real detail to capture. Read it out loud after she answers.
